The Benefits OF TANGO

The Ultimate Challenge

Being intrinsic in nature, the Tango is the most difficult dance there is to learn, therefore the perfect tool for teaching Leadership, Following and Teamwork on both conscious and subconscious levels.

Unlike many other dance forms, Tango is not learning a sequence of choreographed steps. You will learn to lead, follow and to communicate with your with partner by inviting them to respond to your intent by only using your body language.

This is multitasking on a whole new level. As well as being able to perform their own improvised steps, the leader will subtly invite their partner to follow their intention. This is achieved whilst navigating the dance floor with other dancing couples in very close proximity. This partnership is totally unique. Each dancer interprets the music, responds and adapts to the environment in their own way - no two dancers are ever the same.

Leadership

Leaders have to be clear, concise and confident.

Tango teaches all the qualities it takes to be an admired, effective and productive leader.

Confidence

Tango will teach you to let go of any insecurities and be confident.

Any hesitation or doubt will clearly be transmitted to your partner through your body language.

Team Building

The bonds created in this intense learning experience are powerful, breaking down barriers and encouraging interaction on a personal and positive level.

Communication

You will learn a new language - a silent language that is expressed both visually and physically from your body, from your intent.

Intention

Harness your intention and communicate it to your follower subtly, yet powerfully so that within a fraction of a second before you lead a move, they instinctively know what you are asking.

Connection

Leaders will use their confidence and clarity to create a strong connection which their followers can trust.

Followers will allow themselves to be lead by being strong and confident with intense concentration, while being relaxed and responsive.

Cooperation

You will be dancing with your partner on a crowded floor surrounded by other dancers who are all learning to navigate safely as they interpret the music and each other.

You will discover the need to participate with the will to succeed.

Focus

Total concentration is required. If either leader or follower allows their focus to wander, the connection fails and the success of the dance is lost.

Trust

You will learn to follow with your eyes closed. On a crowded dance floor this requires a great deal of trust in the leader.

There are not many other situations in life where you will experience this level of personal trust and it is a very powerful gift.

Respect

Respect and trust go hand in hand.

If the leader or follower feels or shows a lack of confidence in themselves or the other, the connection will be lost.

Awareness

Every moment, the leader will instinctively know where the partner’s weight is (which dictates the nature of the next step), how the partnership is connecting and will know exactly where the other dancing couples are in the vicinity.

Body Language

You will take reading body language to a whole new and subtle level and learn how to use your own body language to subconsciously influence your partner.

Instinct

Like learning to drive, Tango soon becomes second nature allowing you to lead and follow by instinct, with all the qualities that you learn affecting every part of your life.

Coordination

Bring all the basics of the dance together, coordinating and multitasking to create something apparently complex out of lots of simple elements.

Appreciation

You will learn to appreciate your partner and dance according to their response to your lead.

Negotiation

Leaders will learn that their lead is actually an invitation that the follower accepts and then the leader then follows the partner through to the completion of every step.

In this negotiation the follower accepts, but possibly with a different variation, which requires the lead to be able to interpret and instantly adapt to the new situation.

Intuition

You will learn to develop a very subtle style that allows you and your partner to feel your way through every step, so you appear to be dancing seamlessly without any obvious signs of a visible lead.

Initiative

Tango is not sequences of steps and learned figures. Each step is a complete element that ends with the leader having the option to lead all manner of different variations from that step. This depends on a number of key elements such as the responsiveness of the follower, space available and their own initiative - All within the framework of the music.

Creativity

Tango music is unlike any other dance music. It has multiple layers and often a playful cadence that allow the lead to interpret their own dance. This could be dancing to the melody, the rhythm, the violins, or the singer, etc.

Intellect

Tango requires a lot of concentration, common sense and intelligence. It is the most complicated dance there is and workshops, although fun, can be very mentally challenging.

Energy

Tango shares many similarities with Tai Chi and other martial arts in that it requires a lot of controlled energy. However, in Tango it is directed at peaceful yet exciting interaction, instead of aggression or defence.

Stimulation

The mental stimulation that the Tango creates is very powerful on many levels and very rewarding.

Posture

Tango requires good posture be applied by both leader and follower, which has a positive benefit for everyday life with lazy or bad posture being identified and corrected.

Musicality

Everyone has the capability of interpreting the cadence of music and Tango will help to develop that interpretation. This allows the dancer to recognise patterns and sequences that develop and repeat in the music, allowing them to really dance to the music.

Timing

One of the secrets of Tango is that it is danced in the pauses of the music where it suggests that you take time to enjoy the dance.

Expression

You will learn to express yourself and your skill in a whole new and exciting way.

Development

Tango will allow you to grow and develop new abilities and give you a new outlook. The ultimate personal growth tool.

Individual

Every person develops in a different way. No two dancers are ever the same.

Interaction

You will develop a new understanding of how to interact and relate to your co-workers.

Stress Relief

Dancing is by far one of the best ways to relieve all those stresses that modern business and personal life brings.

FUN

Above all, our workshops are FUN, light hearted and humour is encouraged.
